Net-Zero Public Restroom: The Future of Carbon Capture, Reduction, and Circular Sustainability

On the path to net-zero 2050, we utilize recycled wood and regenerative wood (SenSenWood) as the primary building materials to create an innovative public restroom that embodies carbon reduction, carbon capture, and resource regeneration. This is not just a new public facility—it is a bold statement on sustainable architecture.

Recycled wood and regenerative wood (SenSenWood) complement each other in this project, offering interchangeable and sustainable material options. Both contribute equally to the circular and regenerative approach—whether through carbon sequestration in recycled wood or the high durability and recyclability of SenSenWood, ensuring a low-carbon and waste-reducing solution.

Following SBTi Net-Zero Standards, we integrate six core technologies:

• Carbon-Sequestering Structures with Recycled and SenSenWood: Using 2 tons of recycled wood, sequestering 3.67 tons of CO₂e annually. SenSenWood offers similar environmental benefits with added durability and recyclability.

• Renewable Energy Generation: Implementing thin-film solar panels and natural light guides to reduce operational carbon emissions.

• Energy Efficiency Design: Ventilation skylights enhance air circulation using the chimney effect, reducing energy consumption while maintaining indoor air quality.

• Water Resource Recycling: PVA bio-ball technology treats wastewater, cutting over 70% of sludge, and transforming waste into reusable resources.

• Algae-Based Carbon Capture: Utilizing restroom wastewater nutrients to cultivate carbon-absorbing algae, sequestering an additional 1.83 tons of CO₂e annually.

• Eco-Friendly Integration: Native plant landscaping and rainwater harvesting systems contribute to a self-sustaining ecological environment.

This public restroom is more than just infrastructure—it is a living lab for low-carbon innovation. Through scientific LCA methodology, we ensure carbon neutrality and optimal resource utilization. With recycled and regenerative wood (SenSenWood) as our foundation and net-zero as our goal, we are paving the way for a more sustainable urban future.
